RopeGuardian™ Non-Contacting Continuous Wire Rope Monitoring System

Posted March 27, 2019 by Herb Weischedel

Our company has recently developed a Magnetic Non-Contacting Continuous Wire Rope Monitoring System (NC-CRMS), which has been successfully installed and rigorously validation tested on an A&R winch, of one of the most advanced pipe-lay vessels in the industry.

There is a compelling case for using a CRMS for deep-sea crane applications, where ropes are subject to bending-over-sheave fatigue cycles, potentially combined with AHC and corrosion.

A CRMS is clearly indicated when vessels have to be taken out to some deep-sea location for a rope inspection. To avoid such an awkward and hugely expensive round-trip, a CRMS is the obvious alternative. A CRMS allows MRT whenever it is convenient, potentially even in real time during crane operation and without equipment downtime.

Our Magnetic NC-CRMS is a first in the offshore industry and will fundamentally change inspection (especially MRT) procedures for high-value ropes including offshore and deep-mining ropes.

If you would like further information on our CRMS, please do not hesitate to contact me at . There is no obligation on your part, of course!
